Abstract

The goal of this essay is to contribute to the reflection on the recent past, the present, and future of Social Anthropology in Argentina. As a graduate who finished his studies before the military dictatorship of 1976-1983, but who lived through the military intervention of 1966, I think I have witnessed political events that have impacted the development of our discipline, generating ideologies that influence the orientation of ethnic studies.

    Miguel A. Bartolomé es Licenciado en Ciencias Antropológicas por la UBA, Maestro y Doctor en Sociología por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México y Profesor-Investigador Emérito (en activo) del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) de México adscrito al Centro INAH de Oaxaca. Es también Investigador Nacional Emérito (en activo) del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores SEP-CONACYT y miembro de la Academia Mexicana de Ciencias. Es asimismo autor y compilador de 27 libros y alrededor de 100 ensayos sobre los pueblos indígenas de Argentina, Paraguay, Panamá y en especial de México, así como de la Antropología Política de América Latina.
