Abstract

The work describes and analyzes the altarpieces of the cathedral of Buenos Aires, from the seventeenth century high altar (lost) to those made after the reconstruction of Masella at the end of the eighteenth century. It presents its plans, taken by the author, analyzes its iconography and provides, mainly with data from the records of the Ecclesiastical Cabildo of Buenos Aires, accounts books and documentation of confraternities, information on its construction and use.
