Conjunto lítico de la Quebrada de Mesada, Puna de Salta: análisis del material adscribible al Formativo

The aim of this paper is to present the results of the analysis of lithic material ascribable to Formativo from Quebrada de Mesada, in the basin of San Antonio de los Cobres, carried out within the framework of the doctoral project Social Networks Interaction in Early Period in puna of Salta. This project studies the variability of lithic technological strategies among the first producers of food in two areas of the Puna of Salta (San Antonio de los Cobres and Santa Rosa de los Pastos Grandes). While our study case has not radiocarbon dates there are common patterns with other assemblages of the area and general NOA, and it was detected some diversity of artifacts and context analyzed which forms part of a typical and expected set in societies that are basing their subsistence in food production.
