Abstract

The kierkegaardean conception of “christian love” can be interpreted as a theory of recognition. We can develop our authentic identity, only if we are truly recognized by the others. This article is devoted to expose the concept of “look” in Kierkegaard´s book, Works of Love. Kierkegaard thinks that the way we look the others shows the way we recognize them. With our “look” we can help the other to be himself, but we can also lead the other to a mistaken understanding of his own personality.
