Abstract

In this article, we pursue to analyse some aspects regarding the process of inheritance activation of tango as a result of the intervention of the local State in the late ‘90s. After having analysed some aspects which characterise and reing the contemporary processes of inheritance, we review the main regulations and cultural activities generated around tango. Subsequently, we will focus on the the development of the successive public policies and the activities related to the festivals and the dance championship in the city of Buenos Aires. Likewise, we will explore the constructions and the meaning of “authenticity” in the different cultural fields. On the one hand, we look at the “cultural tourism” linked to tango in the city and , on the other hand, we analyse the meaning given to the performances of tango-dance of saloon in the context of the official championships.
