Abstract

The richness and diversity of the Registrum of Gregory the Great lights also some aspects of evangelization of resistant sectors of a conflicting sardinian reality and its relation with the Byzantine world. The selected source shows the practical policy of the Bishop with regard the religious and social situation of his time. In this case study linked to the island of Sardinia the curious presence of Hospiton, leader of rebels barbaricini becomes partner of the cunning Gregory.
